Will Gibson

Psychotherapy and Counselling

I am a registered Integrative Psychotherapist in training at the Metanoia Institute, London.

I have supported people from a wide diversity of backgrounds, helping them to cope with difficult moments in their lives. I have worked with issues including addiction, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, loneliness, suicidal thoughts, physical and mental disability, anger, bereavement and homelessness.

I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and am supported by a UKCP registered supervisor.

I have a PhD in Sociology and Social Psychology and have worked as an academic for 25 years where I continue to teach and research. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how unfair and harmful society can be and how it impacts on our lives.

In my practice, I maintain a strong commitment towards producing a more equitable world by supporting and celebrating all forms of diversity.

Psychotherapy

I see therapy as a safe and compassionate space to think about how we live our lives and how we might confront the parts that aren’t working for us. Over time, we develop patterns of behaviour and absorb beliefs about who we are and how we ought to act, think, feel, and exist. Our ways of living can sometimes be limiting, even damaging. While we can’t change our past, we can change how we make sense of it and how it impacts us. My role is to support you in this exploration by offering a non-judgemental, empathic space to talk and grow.

Therapy works best when there is a good bond between therapist and client. I would be delighted to meet you and to explore how we might work together.

How I work

I currently offer sessions either online or face to face at the Queens Square Practice Rooms in Bristol. I prefer to work long-term with clients, which can mean anything from six months upwards. I work with adults of 18+

I charge £50 for a 50-minute session. These fees may increase slightly year on year. You can pay by bank transfer before each session.

I offer all prospective clients a brief video call prior to booking the first session. This helps us to decide whether we would be a good match without you needing to pay for a session.

If we decide to work together, we will arrange a weekly slot that works for us both.
